Beyond Music: My Love for Cricket and Life Outside of Singing

Outside of making music, recording songs, and everything else that comes with being an independent singer in Saskatoon, I’ve also been getting really involved in the world of cricket over the past year.

Interestingly, I wasn’t all that involved in cricket growing up in India, which is kind of weird considering how massive the sport is there. But after moving to Canada, I found myself getting more and more interested in it.

Around this time last year, I started becoming much more active in following the sport. A big part of that was watching Abhishek Sharma play. He’s phenomenal, and watching him play was one of the things that really got me interested in cricket.

Of course, India is my team. Always has been, and probably always will be. And right now, I think they’re one of the best teams out there across all formats.

These days, I play cricket every now and then, watch a lot of games, and just enjoy being part of the sport in my own way.

Life Outside Music

I guess this is just me letting everyone know that there’s more to my life than music.

As much as I enjoy writing songs, recording music, and working on my journey as an independent artist, I also have other hobbies and interests that keep me occupied.

Cricket is one of them.

It’s probably not something you’d see much of on my social media pages, or something that would come up if you searched for me on Google. For obvious reasons, most of what you’ll find online about me is related to music, my songs, and my work as a singer-songwriter.

But cricket is another part of my life that I’ve picked up over the past year, and it’s something I genuinely enjoy quite a fair bit.

So, yeah. Outside of music, I play cricket, watch cricket, and occasionally just touch grass.

Just thought I’d share a little bit about that side of my life!

Working on a New Song: My Journey as an Independent Singer in Saskatoon

Right now, I’m working on recording another song. This time, it’s a cover of Falling Out, originally written by Prestyn Smith. The song falls into the pop-rock genre, which is something I haven’t really explored in my recordings yet.

Then again, I’ve only recorded three songs so far, and all three of them belong to different genres.

The way I approach recording music isn’t necessarily genre-specific, and while that might not be the best thing when it comes to building an artist brand, I think it has more to do with the stories I want to tell and the emotions I want to convey through music.

For me, it’s always been about the story.

I write or cover songs that align with the stories I want to tell. If I feel like I can tell a particular story better through a country song, that’s how I’ll approach it. If the story calls for something more pop-oriented or even bedroom pop, then that’s the direction I’ll take.

As an independent singer and musician in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, I’m still figuring out my sound and exploring different musical styles. I enjoy a wide range of genres, including pop, pop-rock, rock, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll.

That might not necessarily be the most straightforward approach when it comes to establishing a recognizable artist brand, but right now, I’m more focused on making music, releasing songs, and telling stories through them.

And that’s what matters most to me at this stage of my journey.

Working on My Next Release

The work on my new song is currently ongoing. I’m working with my producer, talking to musicians, and figuring out how to bring the song to life.

I’m expecting a release sometime in December, and I’m really looking forward to sharing it.

My original plan was to release a new song every month. I was able to follow through with that for the first two months, but some unexpected financial responsibilities have made it difficult to maintain that schedule for now.

As an independent artist, there are a lot of things that go into making and releasing music, and sometimes things don’t always go according to plan.

Nevertheless, I’m still working on new music, exploring different sounds, and finding ways to share my music with more listeners.

If you’re interested in following my journey as a singer-songwriter and independent musician in Saskatoon, stay tuned for updates on my upcoming releases.

More music is on the way.
