Right now, I’m working on recording another song. This time, it’s a cover of Falling Out, originally written by Preston Smith. The song falls into the pop-rock genre, which is something I haven’t really explored in my recordings yet.
Then again, I’ve only recorded three songs so far, and all three of them belong to different genres.
The way I approach recording music isn’t necessarily genre-specific, and while that might not be the best thing when it comes to building an artist brand, I think it has more to do with the stories I want to tell and the emotions I want to convey through music.
For me, it’s always been about the story.
I write or cover songs that align with the stories I want to tell. If I feel like I can tell a particular story better through a country song, that’s how I’ll approach it. If the story calls for something more pop-oriented or even bedroom pop, then that’s the direction I’ll take.
As an independent singer and musician in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, I’m still figuring out my sound and exploring different musical styles. I enjoy a wide range of genres, including pop, pop-rock, rock, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll.
That might not necessarily be the most straightforward approach when it comes to establishing a recognizable artist brand, but right now, I’m more focused on making music, releasing songs, and telling stories through them.
And that’s what matters most to me at this stage of my journey.
Working on My Next Release
The work on my new song is currently ongoing. I’m working with my producer, talking to musicians, and figuring out how to bring the song to life.
I’m expecting a release sometime in December, and I’m really looking forward to sharing it.
My original plan was to release a new song every month. I was able to follow through with that for the first two months, but some unexpected financial responsibilities have made it difficult to maintain that schedule for now.
As an independent artist, there are a lot of things that go into making and releasing music, and sometimes things don’t always go according to plan.
Nevertheless, I’m still working on new music, exploring different sounds, and finding ways to share my music with more listeners.

More music is on the way.
